Details:

Insecticide.Pymetrozine is a systemic insecticide active against motile forms of Hemiptera, including those with MACE and esterase resistance. It has no knockdown activity but crops are protected immediately because feeding ceases soon after ingestion; this is attributed to the product disabling the pests stylet. The insects die of starvation within a few days. The product is plant-systemic. It is readily taken up by leaves and roots and translocated around the plant; it exhibits excellent translaminar activity. Novartis (now Syngenta) has also demonstrated a reduction of TYLCV transmission by B tabacii (ie reduced vectoring capability) following foliar applications of pymetrozine to tomatoes. Further studies demonstrated that pymetrozine persists in crops for up to 14 days and should offer protection against the transmission of PLRV (potato leaf roll virus).
