Properties:
Sodium pyrophosphate anhydrous is a white crystalline powder that easily absorbs moisture in the air and deliquesces; sodium pyrophosphate decahydrate is a colorless monoclinic crystal or white crystal or crystalline powder, which is easy to weather in dry air. It loses crystal water when heated to 100°C. Easily soluble in water, the aqueous solution is alkaline but insoluble in alcohol. The aqueous solution is stable below 70°C, and hydrolyzes to disodium hydrogen phosphate when boiling. It has a strong pH buffer and has a certain chelating effect on metal ions.
Application:
Used as a chelating agent for metal ions, such as a complexing agent for copper in electroplating baths. Used as a rust remover in mechanical processing. Used as a stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide. Prepare bleaching aid and wool degreasing agent with sodium hydroxide. Used as water softener and boiler descaling agent in water treatment. When using dibasic calcium phosphate in toothpaste, add sodium pyrophosphate to form a colloid and stabilize it. Used as a dispersant, antiflocculant, emulsifier and quality improver in chemical production and food industry. It is also used as a raw material for other pyrophosphate production.
