Fumed silica is synthesized by the pyrolysis method in which halogenated silanes reacts with oxygen and hydrogen in a flame, it is superfine nanoscaled amorphous powder with primary particle size 7-40 nm.

Fumed silica has significant functions of thixotropy, thickening, anti-sagging, anti-settling and anti-caking, so it is widely applicated in the industries of silicone rubber, adhesives, sealants, paint, coating, resins, pharmaceuticals, food, printing ink, fertilizer, gel-batteries, green tires etc.
