Methyl trioctyl ammonium chloride, also known as trioctyl methyl ammonium chloride, is a halogenated quaternary ammonium salt. Quaternary ammonium salt (R1R2R3R4N+ChemicalbookX-) series compounds are widely used in daily chemical industry, textile, printing and dyeing, mining, asphalt, construction, plastic processing, petroleum exploitation, petrochemical and other fields, playing an important role.

Weigh 1000g trioctyl amine into a beaker, drop by drop add concentrated hydrochloric acid (total amount of HCl added is about 103g), magnetic stirring, after the neutralization reaction, use constant temperature water bath evaporation to remove about 80% of the water, and then vacuum drying product trioctyl ammonium chloride; 1000g trioctyl ammonium chloride and Chemicalbook235g dimethyl carbonate were respectively weighed and successively added to a 10L reactor. After blowing away the air in the reactor with nitrogen, the reactor was closed for reaction. The reaction temperature was 170℃, and stirring was started when the reaction temperature reached 170℃, and the reaction time was 8 hours. After the reaction, about 1026g methyl trioctylammonium chloride was prepared.
