The chemical name of phenethyl resorcinol is 4 - (1-phenethyl) - 1,3-resorcinol. It is an effective component with excellent whitening effect. It mainly achieves the purpose of whitening by inhibiting the activity of tyrosinase. Existing studies have shown that phenethyl resorcinol can effectively whiten, resist oxidation and wrinkle when the dosage is more than 0.5%. However, the use of high concentration of phenylethyl resorcinol in cosmetics will cause skin allergy. The use limit in cosmetics is 0.5%. The problem of easy allergy makes it difficult to use phenylethyl resorcinol in large doses and can not achieve more excellent whitening effect.
