What is Tea Saponin

Tea saponin is extracted from camellia seeds. It is one kind of glycoside compound. It is bitter and spicy and can stimulate the mucous membranes in the nose to make people sneeze. It is an excellent natural nonionic surfactant. After formulation, it can be widely used in aquaculture, agriculture, feed, construction are, and so on.

The pure tea saponin is white crystal. It is easy to absorb moisture. It shows obvious acid property to Methyl red, hard to dissolve in the pure Methyl alcohol, doesn't dissolve in ether, acetone, benzene organic solvent, and easy to dissolve in diluted methyl alcohol, diluted ethyl alcohol, and Glacial acetic acid, etc. Add Hydrochloric acid to dissolved tea saponin, tea saponin will precipitate. The Melting point of tea saponin is 224°C. Molecular Formula is C57H90O26. EINECS number is 232-462-6.

Application:

Aquaculture area 
Because of hemolysis, tea saponin is widely used in aquaculture to eliminate unwanted fish and harmful insects in the fish and prawn ponds. It can help the shrimp to take off the shell earlier and enhance the growth of shrimps. It can detoxify quickly in water and is not injurious to cattle and people who may use the water. Leave no cumulative adverse residues, and it is readily available and economical to use. It can prevent the black-gill shrimp disease. It can control parasites as well as improve the ecdysis and growth, especially for crab and sea cucumber farming. So tea saponin is an excellent natural pond-cleaning agent.


Agrochemical auxiliary's area 
It is an excellent agent and natural surfactant for liquid and water-soluble pesticides. Saponin is self-degradable and non-toxic. During the detoxification process, it will not decrease the pesticide's chemical property but last the effect. Saponin is wildly used in herbicides (such as Glyphosate), and insecticides (such as Bisultap). Especially for Glyphosate, saponin can improve the adhesive force and wet absorption, so as to enhance the penetration and biological activity of Glyphosate. It can reduce the dosage of pure herbicides to 50%-70%.

Molluscicide area 
Tea Saponin is an organic molluscicide without any potential harm to humans, animals, and the environment. It is largely applied in the rice field to kill snails, especially Golden Apple Snail with excellent efficacy. It also can ensure high harvest and top quality of rice without accumulated harmful elements.

Feed Area
Tea saponin has anti-inflammatory effect. It can be used as antibiotic, but is natural and ecological. It can reduce the diseases for both humans and animals without any cumulative adverse residues. Tea saponin can also reduce the cholesterol inside the animals and develop low-cholesterol animal products. That will a good way to prevent the use of Clenbuterol.

Construction area
With excellent foam function, tea saponin can be used as a foaming agent and foam-stabilization agent in air-added concrete production.
