1. Introduction
Perilla is widely planted in China and Southeast Asia. It is a traditional cash crop. Perillaldehyde liquid is a highly volatile aromatic oily liquid mixture extracted from perilla leaves or stalks. It is mild and non-toxic, with excellent antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, insecticidal, anticancer, antidepressant and other effects.
2. Main Functions
2.1. Antibacterial effect
Perillaldehyde can inhibit the growth of dermatophytes such as Microsporum, and the ether extract of perilla leaves can effectively inhibit the growth of dermatophytes such as Trichophyton, Microsporum, Epidermophyton, etc. Candida has no inhibitory effect, and the main component that inhibits the growth of fungi is perilla aldehyde, and it is believed that its broad-spectrum antibacterial effect also provides a certain basis for the use of fresh perilla leaves in the treatment of athlete's foot.
Using perilla leaf oil (perilla aldehyde 74%, limonene 12.8%, β-caryophyllene 3.8%), the bacterial fungal test results showed that perilla volatile oil at a concentration of 125-1 000 mg/L was effective against A. Yeast, etc. also have inhibitory effects. The study showed that the volatile oil of perilla leaves (0.8 mg/L: perilla aldehyde 75.88%, limonene 3.82%) had good inhibitory effect on Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, and had a slightly stronger effect on Bacillus subtilis. Therefore, perillaldehyde and PA-type volatile oils have bacteriostatic activity.
2.2. Improve immune system function
The study showed that perilla leaf volatile oil ( 0.03 mL/kg ) , perilla aldehyde ( 8.54 m/kg ) and limonene ( 4. 53 mg/kg ) could significantly increase the spleen index and thymus index , and the volatile oil group and perilla aldehyde The index of mice in the group was significantly higher than that of the mice in the limonene group. At the same time, perillaldehyde could significantly increase the ACP activity of the peritoneal macrosalivary cells of mice and the spleen ACP activity compared with limonene, and enhanced the body's non-specific immune function.
2.3. Central inhibition
Studies have shown that the odor stimulation of perilla leaf volatile oil can significantly reduce the activity of human prefrontal cortex, which is believed to be consistent with many studies reporting that perilla leaf volatile oil has antidepressant effects; aldehyde, limonene, trans-caryophyllene, etc.) can reduce the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor mRNA and protein associated with depression.
2.4. It can improve the quality of cigarettes
It is widely used in the tobacco industry, it can significantly improve the quality of cigarettes, reduce irritation, and make the aftertaste mellow and comfortable.
3. Applications
It can be used to prepare flavors with lemon, mint and other flavors; daily flavors for the preparation of soaps, perfumes, detergents, cosmetics, etc.; agricultural bactericides and pesticides; intermediates for organic synthesis, its oximation can generate a new food additive --- perillartine. It can also be used to synthesize drugs with unique medicinal effects (such as anti-aging, lowering blood lipids and anti-allergic inflammation, etc.).
4. Flow Chart
Perilla → Perilla oil → Sodium bisulfite → Crystalline adduct → Filtration → Washing with ethanol and ether → Sodium hydroxide decomposition → Crude product → Separation of organic phase → Rectification → Perillaldehyde
