Hesperidin is the dried young fruit extract of Citrus Aurantium L. and Citrus Sinensis Osbeckits and its cultivated varieties.
Hesperidin is a flavonoid with the structure of flavonoid glycoside oxygen. Hesperidin has anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-cancer, immune regulation, radiation protection, cardiovascular system protection and other pharmacological activities. Hesperidin is believed to play a role in plant defence. It acts as an antioxidant according to in-vitro studies. It can contribute to the integrity of the blood vessels in humans. Various preliminary studies also revealed novel pharmaceutical properties. For example, in a mouse study, hesperidin is found to reduce cholesterol and blood pressure of rats. Large doses of the glucoside hesperidin also decrease bone density loss. Another animal study showed hesperidin also has protective effects against sepsis.

4.Hesperidin has antioxidant effect. It can scavenge hydroxyl free radicals. It also has a protective effect on the oxidative damage of red blood cell membrane caused by hydroxl free radicals.
5.Hesperidin can inhibit skin pigmentation and have whitening effect. It reduces the number of dopa-positive melanocytes and inhibits UVB-induced pigmentation.
6.Hesperidin can enhance the role of vitamin C. It can increase the content of ascorbic acid in the adrenal glands, spleen and white blood cells, and improve diseases caused by vitamin C deficiency.
