Stevia (Stevioside; CNS: 19.008; INS: 960) (CAS No. 57817-89-7), also known as stevioside, is a glycoside extracted from the leaves of Stevia Rebaudia (the plant is called stevia in China), a member of the Asteraceae family. Stevia Rebaudia is native to Paraguay and Brazil, and now it is also grown in China, Singapore, Malaysia and other countries. Its sweet component consists of stevioside and stevia A, B, C, D and E glycosides. Stevioside can be extracted, clarified and crystallized from the dried leaves with water, and three types have been obtained in actual production, namely crude extracts and products with 50% and 90% purity.

Applications

1. Applied in the food field, it is mainly used as a non-calorie food sweetener;

2. Applied in other products, such as beverage, liquor, meat, daily products and so on;

3. Applied in pharmaceutical field, it is approved to use in medicine , and developing many new products in few years.
