What is Isavuconazole 
Isavuconazole is a new triazole currently undergoing phase III clinical trials. 
This compound has shown in vitro activity against a large number of clinical important yeasts and molds including Asperg illus spp., Fusarium spp., Scedosporium spp.Candida spp., the Zygomycetes and Cryptococcus spp.

Isavuconazole Function 
1. Invasive aspergillosis: suitable for the treatment of patients with invasive aspergillosis aged 18 years and older.
2. Invasive mucormycosis: suitable for the treatment of patients with invasive mucormycosis aged 18 years and older.

Isavuconazole sulfate is rapidly converted into the active metabolite isavuconazole by plasma esterases after entering the body. Similar to other azole antifungals, isavuconazole disrupts fungal cell membrane formation by inhibiting ergosterol biosynthesis. Isavuconazole binds to the cytochrome P450 lanosterol 14-α-demethylase encoded by the fungal CYP51 gene, inhibits the activity of 14-α-demethylase, hinders ergosterol synthesis, and accumulates toxic methylated sterols Affects the structural stability and integrity of fungal cell membranes, and alters its function, ultimately leading to fungal death. The side chain in isavuconazole's structural formula molecule has a high affinity with the fungal CYP51 protein, which makes it have a broad antifungal spectrum, including fungi resistant to other azole antifungals.
