Diarrheal irritable bowel syndrome is a multifactorial gastrointestinal disorder that causes persistent abdominal pain, diarrhea, and interferes with normal bowel function. It affects about twice as many women as men and currently affects 15 million in the U.S. , the total number of patients in Europe reached 13 million.
