PVP is divided into four levels according to its average molecular weight. It is usually expressed by K value, and different K values represent the corresponding PVP average molecular weight range. The K value is actually a characteristic value related to the relative viscosity of the PVP aqueous solution, and the viscosity is a physical quantity related to the molecular weight of the polymer, so the K value can be used to characterize the average molecular weight of PVP. Generally, the greater the K value, the greater the viscosity and the stronger the adhesion.
Application
1.Polyvinylpyrrolidone PVP is one of the three new pharmaceutical excipients. It can be used as a cosolvent for tablets, granules, injections, glidants for capsules, dispersants for liquid preparations and colorants, enzymes and heat-sensitive drugs. Stabilizer, co-precipitating agent for poorly soluble drugs, detoxifier and lubricant for eye drops, etc.
2.Industrially used as foaming polystyrene additives, gelling agents, stabilizers, fiber treatment agents, paper processing aids, adhesives, and thickeners for suspension polymerization.
