Isoniazid, also known as 4-pyridinecarbonylhydrazide and isonicotinic acid hydrazine, with the molecular formula of C6H7N3O, is the hydrazide of isonicotinic acid. Colored crystalline or white crystalline powder, slightly bitter, stable in nature, easily soluble in water.

Isoniazid was invented in 1952, and the invention of isoniazid made a fundamental change in the treatment of tuberculosis. In this nearly 50 year history of use, although some patients infected with tuberculosis have developed drug resistance, the vast majority of doctors still believe that it is an indispensable main drug for the treatment of tuberculosis.
