1. Effects on the urinary system

2. Action on smooth muscle
The aqueous extract of Cherry fructus can inhibit the spontaneous contraction of rabbit jejunum smooth muscle, antagonizes the spasmic contraction of rabbit jejunum smooth muscle and rat bladder smooth muscle induced by acetylcholine and barium chloride, and antagonizes the contractile response of rabbit thoracic aortic strip induced by norepinephrine.
3. Effects on experimental atherosclerosis
Experimental atherosclerosis was induced in rabbits by feeding cholesterol and adding proper amount of methylthiouracil. After 2 and 3 weeks of treatment, serum cholesterol decreased by 12.5% and 18.67%, respectively.
4. Fight pathogens
The plate method showed that the 25% root decoction had a high antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, and was also effective on Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
5. Antibacterial
The decoction had an inhibitory effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Shigella, tetanus bacillus and Leptospira. The decoction also had a strong inhibitory effect on influenza virus. The polysaccharides from cherry seeds also had a strong inhibitory effect on Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Actinomycetes. However, no inhibitory activity was shown against molds. Moreover, polysaccharides from cherry seeds inhibited the ear swelling induced by xylene in mice.
