Pirenzepine hydrochloride is a selective anticholinergic drug with a high affinity for muscarinic receptors in gastric parietal cells, but a low affinity for muscarinic receptors in smooth muscle, myocardium and salivary glands. Therefore, it can only inhibit the secretion of gastric acid when applied in general therapeutic doses. There are few side effects of other anticholinergic drugs on pupils, gastrointestinal smooth muscle, heart, salivary glands and bladder muscles. The increase of the dose can inhibit salivary secretion, and only the large dose can inhibit gastrointestinal smooth muscle and cause tachycardia. This product does not penetrate the blood-brain barrier, so it does not affect the central nervous system. After oral, intramuscular or static injection of this product, the secretion of basic gastric acid, and the secretion of gastric acid caused by exogenous pentagastrin and insulin were inhibited. This product has little effect on the pH of gastric juice, mainly to reduce the secretion of gastric juice (including pepsinogen and pepsin), so that the maximum acid secretion and maximum acid secretion of the stomach are decreased.
