Prouct Introduction and Attributes

 

Sodium thiocyanate is a white rhombic crystal or powder. The relative density was 1.735g/cm3. Melting point is 287 ℃. It is easy to deliquescence in air and produces toxic gas when it meets acid. Soluble in water, ethanol and other solvents. The aqueous solution is neutral, with iron salts to produce blood color iron thiocyanide, with iron salts do not react, with concentrated sulfuric acid to produce yellow sodium bisulfate, with cobalt salts to produce dark blue cobalt thiocyanide, with silver salts or copper salts to produce white silver thiocyanide precipitation or black copper thiocyanide precipitation. This product is a high environmental risk product

 

Product Application

 

Used as chemical analysis reagent, polyacrylonitrile fiber spinning solvent, color film washing agent, some plant defoliating agent, etc.
In organic synthesis, it is used to convert halogenated hydrocarbons to the corresponding thiocyanates. For example, isopropyl bromide reacts with sodium thiocyanate in a hot ethanol solution to give isopropyl thiocyanate. Similar reagents include ammonium thiocyanate and potassium thiocyanate.
Sodium thiocyanate is converted to isothiocyanate (S=C=NH) when it encounters acid. After in situ formation, it can react with amines to produce corresponding thiourea derivatives.
Used as solvent for spinning polyacrylonitrile fiber, chemical analysis reagent, color film washing agent, some plant defoliating agent, and airport road weedkiller. Also used in pharmaceutical, printing and dyeing, rubber treatment, black nickel plating and the manufacture of artificial mustard oil.
