2-methoxyphenylboric acid is a kind of arylboric acid. Arylboric acid can be widely used as a safe and environmentally friendly new arylating reagent in the scientific research and production of fine chemicals containing aryl structure such as medicine, pesticides and advanced materials. The reaction of arylboric acid with halogenates plays a pivotal role in today's drug synthesis, such reactions were first proposed by the Japanese scientist Suzuki team, and won the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2010.

Under nitrogen protection, magnesium (2.9 g, 1.2 times) and tetrahydrofuran (20 ml) and dibromoethane (1.9 g) were added to a 250 ml three-mouth flask with a drop funnel; Then 2-methoxybromobenzene (17.1 g, 0.1 mole), trimethyl borate (36.8 g, 3.5 times) and tetrahydrofuran (50 ml) were added to the drip funnel as solvents. Heat to 40℃, activate the magnesium powder Chemicalbook, and then slowly add the mixture in the drip funnel, control the speed until the reaction temperature does not exceed 60℃, stir the reaction until the magnesium basically disappears, and then heat reflux reaction for 6 hours. Stop heating, cool to room temperature, hydrolyze with 5% dilute hydrochloric acid to pH<2. The THF solvent was recovered by distillation, and the product was separated as the solvent was reduced. 2-methoxyphenylboric acid can be obtained by cooling filtration and recrystallization in methanol/water.
