Pharmacological effects 1. Anti-tumor effect Blackcurrant water extract inhibits the growth of human esophageal cancer cell line ECa109 by inducing cell apoptosis, while having no effect on the survival and protein synthesis of normal liver cells, thus showing a strong anti-cancer effect. Blackcurrant fruit contains phenolic compound retrogallic acid (Ellagic acid). Guad-alupe Loarca-Pina used Salmonella microsystem assay to detect the ability of retrogallic acid to resist aflatoxin B1.
