Product Description:
N - Hexyltrimethoxysilane is an organosilicon compound. It is usually a clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid with a mild odor. The molecule features a hexyl chain attached to a silicon atom, which imparts hydrophobicity and some flexibility. Three methoxy groups are also bound to the silicon, and these are highly hydrolyzable. In the presence of moisture, they can react to form silanol groups, which then participate in condensation reactions. This reactivity makes it useful in many chemical processes. It has a moderate boiling point and is soluble in common organic solvents. It is thermally stable over a reasonable temperature range, but care must be taken during storage to avoid excessive heat and moisture.
