Details:

Otaplimastat, a reactive oxygen species inhibitor and superoxide dismutase stimulant, has been used in trials to investigate the treatment of ischemic stroke. It is a matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) inhibitor that competively blocks N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor-mediated excitotoxicity. It also has antioxidant activity.
