Purpose: Biochemical research, phospholipase D (PLD) catalyzes the hydrolysis of phosphatidylcholine (PC) to produce phosphatidic acid (PA) and choline. PC-PLD activity is regulated by hormones, cytokines, neurotransmitters, and growth factors. Therefore, it is believed to play a role in signal transduction in various cell types. The three important lipid messengers generated by PLD play crucial roles in various cellular processes, and these lipids also play important roles in downstream triglyceride and phospholipid synthesis pathways. PLD is essential for the exocytosis of neurons and endocrine cells. In addition, it also plays a crucial role in phagocytosis. Phospholipase D has activity against sphingomyelin and lysophosphatidylcholine. Phospholipase D hydrolyzes the phosphate bonds between phospholipids and sphingolipids to obtain the corresponding phosphatidic acids
