Product Description:
Aluminium hydroxide, chemical formula Al(OH)3, white solid, insoluble in water, soluble in acid or base, is a typical amphoteric hydroxide. After it is heated and dehydrated in the air, it can be converted into alumina, which is of great significance for the production of alumina. Aluminum hydroxide can react with acid to form salt and water and can react with strong bases to form salt and water, so it is an amphoteric hydroxide. Because it is also acidic, it can also be called aluminic acid (H3AlO3). However, the actual reaction with the base forms a tetrahydroxy aluminate ([Al(OH)4]-). Therefore, it is usually regarded as a monohydrate metaaluminic acid (HAlO2·H2O), which is divided into industrial grade and pharmaceutical grade according to its use.

 

Application: 

Aluminum hydroxide has diverse applications. In the pharmaceutical industry, it serves as an antacid, neutralizing excess stomach acid to relieve heartburn and indigestion. In the plastics and rubber industries, it acts as a flame - retardant, releasing water when heated to impede the spread of fire. In the water treatment field, it functions as a coagulant, helping to clump suspended particles for easier removal. In the ceramics industry, it's used to improve the mechanical properties and heat resistance of ceramic products. However, during its handling, avoid inhalation of dust to prevent respiratory issues, and store it in a dry place to maintain its quality.
