Details:

The product with CAS number 56-81-5 is glycerol, also commonly known as glycerin. The following is its detailed introduction:
Basic Information: Its chemical formula is C?H?O?, and its molecular weight is 92.09. It is a colorless, transparent, odorless, viscous liquid with a warm sweet taste and can absorb moisture.
Physical Properties: The melting point is 20°C, the boiling point is 290.9°C. The relative density (water = 1) is 1.26331 at 20°C. The relative vapor density (air = 1) is 3.1. The viscosity (at 20°C) is 1412 mPa·s. The surface tension (at 20°C) is 63.3 mN/m. The saturated vapor pressure (at 20°C) is 0.4 kPa. The flash point is 177°C, and the ignition temperature is 370°C. It is miscible with ethanol, miscible with water, and insoluble in chloroform, ether, carbon disulfide, benzene, oils, and can dissolve certain inorganic substances.
Uses: It is an important organic chemical raw material and is widely used in many sectors of the national economy. In the food industry, it can be used as a water-retaining agent, carrier solvent, thickening agent, plasticizer, etc.; in the manufacture of drugs and cosmetics, it is commonly used as a softening agent, viscosity modifier and solvent; in polymer materials, it is the raw material for producing polyurethane foam plastics, polyethers, etc.; it can also be used as fuel for cars and airplanes and antifreeze for oil fields.

nature

A colorless, odorless, viscous liquid. It's sweet. It has strong hygroscopicity. Can absorb hydrogen sulfide, hydrocyanic acid, sulfur dioxide. Can be miscible with water and ethanol, 1 part of the product can dissolve in 11 parts ethyl acetate, about 500 parts ether, insoluble in benzene, carbon disulfide, trichloromethane, carbon tetrachloride, petroleum ether, oil. It is easy to be dehydrated and lose water to generate diglycerol and polyglycerol. Oxidized to produce glyceraldehyde and glyceric acid. It solidifies at O℃ and forms a rhombic crystal with flash. Polymerization occurs at temperatures around 150 ° C. It is incompatible with anhydrous acetic anhydride, potassium permanganate, strong acid, etchant, fatty amine, isocyanate and oxidant.

Safety information:

Glycerin is a relatively safe compound. It is not recognized as a carcinogen or teratogenic and generally does not cause irritation or allergy to the skin and eyes. Prolonged exposure may result in dry skin. When using glycerin, avoid direct contact with eyes and skin, and store in a dry, clean, well-ventilated place. As a chemical, glycerin should be used in accordance with proper operating procedures and safety precautions.
