1-(4 - aminophenyl)-2,3 - dihydro - 1,3,3 - trimethyl - 1H - inden - 5 - amine is usually a white to pale - yellow crystalline solid. Structurally, it contains a 2,3 - dihydro - 1,3,3 - trimethyl - 1H - indene ring system, with an amino - substituted phenyl group at the 1 - position and another amino group at the 5 - position of the indene ring.

It has low solubility in water, attributed to the non - polar nature of the indene ring. But it can dissolve in polar organic solvents such as ethanol, acetone, and N,N - dimethylformamide. The two amino groups are nucleophilic, making the compound reactive towards electrophiles in reactions like acylation and diazotization.

Under normal storage conditions, it is relatively stable. However, exposure to strong oxidizing agents can cause oxidation of the amino groups.
