Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) is produced from n-butanol and isobutanol, which are the co-products when 2-ethylhexanol is manufactured.It is colorless and oily liquid with slight aromatic odor, soluble in various organic solvents but not in water.

DBP can significantly improve the flexibility and ductility of polymer materials, especially suitable for polyvinyl chloride, making its products have good flexibility, cold resistance, and processing performance. Its plasticizing effect is superior to many similar products, and it has good compatibility with most resins.

2. Multi functional solvents and stabilizers
DBP not only acts as a plasticizer in coatings, inks, and adhesives, but also enhances the adhesion, glossiness, and flowability of coatings, while improving the water resistance and weather resistance of materials. In addition, it can be used as a gas chromatography stationary phase, suitable for the analysis of non-polar and weakly polar substances.

3. Chemical stability and heat resistance
DBP has stable properties at room temperature, with a boiling point of up to 340 ° C and a flash point of about 157 ° C (closed cup). It can withstand certain high temperature environments and is suitable for industrial scenarios that require heat resistance.

4. Low volatility and high solubility
Although its volatility is higher than some high boiling plasticizers, it still has lower volatility loss compared to short chain phthalates and has extremely strong solubility in organic solvents.

Dibutyl phthalate is a plasticizer with strong solubility for various resins. It is mainly used in the processing of polyvinyl chloride, which can endow products with good flexibility.
