Its aqueous solution was neutral.Itreacts with molysite,producing blood red ferric thiocyanate,with concetrated sulphuric acid,producing yellow Sulfate sodium cyanide,withcobalt salt,producing deep blue thiocyanate cobalt,with silver salt,producing white silver thiocyanate,and it does not react with ferrous salt.Sodium sulfocyanate is deliquescent in air. Application: Sodium sulfocyanate is used to produce defoliants and herbicides,and the main intermediate of thiophanate—methyl(also known as thiophanate—methyl),a kind of broad—spectrum fungicides.It is used as a spinning solvent of polyacrylonitrile fibre,chemical analysis reagent and color film developing agent,and also widely used in drugs manufacture,dyeing,rubber,processing,nickel plating and artificial mustard oilmanufacture.
