The proton magnetic resonance spectra of the adducts of Ln(fod)3 with 2,2′-bipyridyl and 1,10-phenanthroline, where Ln = La, Lu, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu and Yb, have been studied in solution. The chemical shifts recorded have been analysed for these complexes and are dipolar in origin. Shifts are larger for the bipyridyl adducts than the phenanthroline adducts.
