Publisher SummaryThe diazines pyridazine, pyrimidine, pyrazine, and their benzo derivatives cinnoline, phthalazine, quinazoline, quinoxaline, and phenazine have played a central role in many investigations. Progress has been made on the syntheses and reactions of these heterocycles and their use as intermediates toward broader goals. One review has covered the functionalizations and synthetic applications of pyridazin-3(2H), while another has covered the reactions of pyrimido[4,5-c]pyridazine-5,7(6H,8H)- diones with nitrogen nucleophiles highlighted their ability to undergo nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen. X-ray crystallography has continued to expand knowledge of the solid state structures of pyridazines. In an earlier study, pyridazines were developed as inhibitors of p38 MAP kinase, others as acyl-CoA:cholesterol acyltransferase (ACAT) inhibitors, and still others as GABA-α receptor ligands. Certain 3(2H)pyridazinones were prepared as fungicides and herbicides.
