  • The absorption spectra of complex salts—III cupric ethylacetoacetate
  • Add time:07/29/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

The absorption spectra of cupric ethylacetoacetate in the 200–1000 mμ range have been measured in a variety of solvents. Absorption bands of high intensity in the 200–300 mμ region are attributed to the conjugated system of the ligand. Absorption in the 300–1000 mμ region is shown to be resolvable into three Gaussian component bands at wavelengths of approximately 370 mμ, 550 mμ and 700 mμ in non-reacting solvents and 370 mμ, 700 mμ and 900 mμ in heterocyclic bases, which react with the solute. Correlations are suggested between these absorption bands and possible d → d transitions in the cupric ion.
