Alpha and beta forms of CALCIUM SULFATE HEMIHYDRATE (cas 13397-24-5) were studied by X-Ray powder diffraction. Microstructure parameters including crystallite sizes and microstress values were determined using Williamson-Hall Plot. It has been established that alpha and beta hemihydrates are characterized by the similar size of crystals and the main contribution to broadening of diffraction peaks is attributable to microstress in the studied material. For alpha-hemihydrate the obtained values of microstress are 0.00011...0.00044, for beta-hemihydrate they exceed 0.001. Based on the results of this research, the method of determination of calcium sulfate hemihydrate form by using X-Ray powder diffraction analysis can be developed.
