A novel and easy-to-use electrochemical sensor was developed using carbon paste electrode (CPE), cesium chloride (Cs) and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) to construct surfactant/cesium modified carbon paste electrode (SCMCPE). This sensor is sensitive for the determination of ropinirole HCl (RPN), in the presence of co-administered drug; L-dopa and interference molecules such as glucose, uric acid (UA) and ascorbic acid (AA). At the optimum conditions, the concentration of RPN was determined using differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) in a linear range of 0.6 × 10−7–1.6 × 10−4 M with a LOD of 2.62 × 10−9 M which confirmed the sensitivity of the electrode. The high sensitivity, wider linear range, good reproducibility and the minimal surface fouling make this modified electrode suitable for the determination of RPN in spiked urine samples and tablet and excellent recovery results were obtained.
