  • Add time:08/06/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

Publisher SummaryBiotin l-sulfoxide occurs in the culture filtrates of various microorganisms. It has been prepared by the oxidation of biotin with 1 mole of hydrogen peroxide and by fractional crystallization of the resulting mixture of biotin d-sulfoxide and biotin l-sulfoxide. It can be prepared more conveniently and in better yield by the oxidation of biotin with 1 mole of hydrogen peroxide and treatment of the resulting mixture of sulfoxides with 1 N hydrochloric acid. This method is described in the chapter in detail.
