The methylchlorodisilanes SiCl2MeSiCl2Me (1), SiCl2MeSiClMe2 (2) and SiClMe2SiClMe2(3) disproportionate in the presence of a basic catalyst into methylchloromonosilanes and various methylchlorooligosilanes.
