  • A facile method for precipitating of dispersed carbon particles prepared by microwave heating and its application for dye removal

Dispersed carbon particles were prepared by microwave heating of aqueous solution of poly ethylene glycol and glucose precursors. Then, a facile method was presented to precipitate the stable dispersed carbon particles, using H2O and Al(NO3)3. The obtained carbon powder was characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, attenuated total reflection-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis/differential thermal analysis, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis methods. The adsorption of methyl violet and cationic blue onto the prepared carbon was investigated from both equilibrium and kinetic point of view. The adsorption rate of methyl violet and cationic blue onto the obtained carbon is very fast and it takes just few seconds. The equilibrium and kinetic data were modeled using different isotherms and kinetic models respectively.
