Mixed ethyl phenylurethane/titania particles were obtained by the hydrolysis of phenylisocyanate-titanium ethoxide aerosol droplets. Chemical composition, structural and phase changes, studied by differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry and X-ray diffractometry, were investigated on untreated, and heat-treated powders at 109°C under vacuum and 472°C in air. Also, the surface properties and bulk crystallinity were determined as a function of heating time. Powder heated at 109°C under vacuum exhibited a maximum surface area over 200 m2 g−1 while heating at 472°C in air produced mostly anatase with a maximum area of 20 m2 g−1.
