We have synthesized strontium molybdates (SMO) SrMoO3 and Sr2MoO4, analogous to strontium ruthenates (SRO) e.g. the ferromagnetic metal SrRuO3 and the spin-triplet superconductor Sr2RuO4. Polycrystalline SrMoO3 and Sr2MoO4 show Pauli-paramagnetic susceptibility between 2 K and 300 K. There is no sign of any long range ordering for both compounds. Considering enhanced electronic specific heat, we concluded Wilson ratio for both SMO to be about two. This suggests that ferromagnetic correlations are not substantial in those SMO in contrast with SRO.
