Zinc phosphate coatings with and without subsequent sol-gel SiO2 post-sealing were prepared under ultrasonic on carbon steel. Microscopic morphologies, chemical compositions and corrosion protection of the coatings were investigated. The polarization curves showed that the protective performance was improved by ultrasonic treatment. Immersion tests in geothermal water at 80–150 °C were carried out and followed by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements. The results revealed that ultrasonic phosphate coating provided an effective barrier after exposure to geothermal water at 150 °C for 336 h.
