The crystal structure of LiI·H2O suggests that the conductivity of this material should be significantly higher from that of anhydrous LiI. Measurements of the conductivity of LiI·H2O give values as high as 10−5 ω−1 cm−1. However, the high conductivity of the monohydrate cannot account for the higher conductivities, as high as 10−4 ω−1 cm−1, observed in dispersions of LiI and LiI·H2O with SiO2 or Al2O3.
