The coordination complexes of acetylferrocene-m-nitrobenzoyl hydrazone(HL) with lanthanide elements, LnL3 (where Ln = lanthanide), have been prepared by the reaction of HL with the metal(III) chlorides in acetonitrile. The data of elemental analyses, IR, UV, NMR, molar conductance, TG and DTA show that the ligand coordinates in the enolic form with a molar ratio of 3:1. The complexes are non-electrolytes in DMF, and are more thermostable than their ligands due to the formation of chelate rings.
