Ionic liquids have recently been of growing significance in pharmaceutical applications. The effect of some ionic liquids on the thermodynamic and transport characteristics of Ceftriaxone sodium (cas 104376-79-6) (CFNa) drug has been studied in this research. Density, speed of sound, and viscosity of CFNa in 1-butyl-4-methylpyridinium bromide, 1-hexyl-4-methylpyridinium bromide and 1-octyl-4-methylpyridinium bromide aqueous solutions have been measured at T/K = (288.15–308.15). Apparent molar volumes at infinite dilution, transfer apparent molar volume, apparent molar isentropic compressibility at infinite dilution and B and D viscosity coefficients of ceftriaxone sodium have been calculated and discussed with regards to solute-solute and solute-solvent interactions using experimental data. The apparent molar volumes and isentropic compressibility values in dilute region were acquired through fitting density and speed of sound data to Redlich-Mayer equation and the viscosity B and D coefficients values were given by Jones-Dole equation.
