Original N-[bis(trimethylsilyl)methyl]-1,2- and 1,3-diamines of type I were prepared either from bis-imination reaction of 1,2-dicarbonyl compounds with bis(trimethylsilyl)methylamine, BSMA (1) followed by reduction or from cyanoethylation of BSMA followed by reduction of the nitrile group.
