A new azomethine iron (III) complexes based on esters of biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid and NO3−, Cl−, PF6− counter-ions were synthesized. The complexation of iron salts with Schiff base proceeds in binary solvent and leads to production of biligand systems with two functional centers which determine of perspective properties. The structure and purity of the obtained intermediate products and metal complexes were confirmed by FT-IR, NMR spectroscopy, chromatography, elemental analyses, and MALDI-ToF-MS method. Thermal properties of compounds were studied by differential scanning calorimetry and thermal gravimetric analysis. The X-ray powder analysis of polycrystalline complexes was carried out at room temperature. It is indexing showed that the crystal cells of all complexes are monoclinic and unit cells contain 4 molecules each. To better understand the results of the spectroscopic measurements, quantum chemical calculations were carried out. The values of Stokes shift and quantum yield of fluorescence were estimated.
