A study was made of oxidation of polysulphide oligomers using sodium bichromate. Kinetics of oxidation were investigated by the chronovolt-amperometric method using a PO-5122 oscillopolarograph (TsLA-02A model) with linear voltage scan under monocyclic conditions. It was established that during oxidation of oligothiols with sodium bichromate the latter is reduced to Cr3+ salt. An assumption was put forward about the anionic mechanism of oxidation of oligothiols. Oxidation of polysulphide oligomers with sodium bichromate is noticeably accelerated in polar medium, which is typical of processes taking place by the ionic mechanism. Recommendations were made to use monomers and oligomers prone to undergo polymerization by the anionic mechanism, in order to modify polysulphide oligomers.
