NiSe (NICKEL SELENIDE (cas 1314-05-2)) alloy films were prepared by non-vacuum based and cost feasible screen-coating route. Most favorable conditions for synthesis of good quality screen-coated films were obtained. The films thus prepared were studied for their structural, optical and electrical characterization. The XRD studies reveals that the films have polycrystalline nature showing hexagonal structure with preferred orientation of grains along plane (101). SEM study of films reveals non uniform distribution of agglomerated grains on entire surface. Elemental analysis confirmed the existence of Ni and Se element in the film. Reflection spectra and Tauc plot confirmed the direct band gap of 1.75 eV. The electrical studies revealed the semiconducting nature of NiSe alloy with electrical resistivity in the order of 103 (Ω cm) and activation energy ∼0.18 eV.
