  • Time Course of the Metabolism of Abscisic Acid and its trans-trans Isomer in Cell Suspension Cultures of Lycopersicon peruvianum
  • Add time:08/16/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

SummaryThe time course of the metabolization of abscisic acid (ABA) and its trans-trans isomer (trans-ABA) by cell suspension cultures of Lycopersicon peruvianum was investigated during 20 min and 5 h incubation. Whereas ABA is biotransformed by the cells both to acidic metabolites and to glucosyl ester, trans-ABA is converted only to the glucose conjugate. The conjugation of trans-ABA is faster than that of ABA; after 5 h no free trans-ABA was observed but free ABA in relative high concentration. The glucosyl esters of ABA and trans-ABA were accumulated by the cells without transport to the culture medium. The conjugates seems to be stable for at least 5 h.
