  • The relationship between the vascular responses to the peptides ranatensin and angiotensin
  • Add time:08/17/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

Renatensin an undecapeptide isolated from Rana pipiens skin was found to be pressor in dogs. The threshold intravenous dose was similar to angiotensin (0.01 μg/kg) but the dose response curve was more horizontal and the duration of action of ranatensin was substantially longer. Pretreatment with phenoxybenzamine HCl (5 mg/kg) if anything slightly enhanced the pressor response to ranatensin, suggesting an action independent of α-receptors and noradrenaline release. The finding of cross tachyphylaxis between the two peptides which have no obvious structural similarity suggest also that the two peptides may occupy closely associated receptors and interfere with each others association constants.
