  • Re-examination of horizontal cells in the carp retina with procion yellow electrode
  • Add time:07/15/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

Four layers of horizontal cell could be identified in the carp retina, among which three were revealed under photopic condition by means of procion yellow injection. From receptor side they are designated the outermost (Layer I), the outer (Layer II) and the inner (Layer III) horizontal cell layers. Layer I generates L-type S-potentials, Layer II gives C-type, and Layer III gives either type of response. Morphological and physiological results strongly suggest that the structures in layer III are extensions of cells located in either Layer I or II. Cajal's intermediate horizontal cells attributed to rod function appear to form another layer between Layers II and III.
