The molecular structure of pentacarbonyl(trifluorophosphine)molybdenum, PF3Mo(CO)5, in the gas phase has been determined by the sector-microphotometer method of electron diffraction. The principal bond lengths and angles are: r(CO) 1.154±0.005, r(MoC) 2.063±0.006, r(MoP) 2.369±0.010, r(PF) 1.557±0.004 Å, < (FPF) 99.5±0.5°. Several methods of describing the partial wave phase shifts have been used, and their relative merits are discussed.
