  • Growth and characterisation of dimethylamino pyridinium p-bromo-chlorophenolate mixed crystal: A new organic NLO material for terahertz applications
  • Add time:07/13/2019         Source:sciencedirect.com

Dimethylamino pyridinium p-bromo-chlorophenolate crystals were grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies divulge that the composite belongs to monoclinic system with centrosymmetric space group P 2 (1)/c. The unit cell parameters are a = 9.72 Å, b = 12.95 Å, c = 11.63 Å. The functional groups present in the compound were identified using FT-IR and FT-Raman studies. Thermal studies were carried out using thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry confirms the material decomposes beyond 139 °C. Microhardness stability analysed by Vickers hardness test has confirm the material to be a soft material with n value 2.26. Dielectric properties were assessed by impedance analysis from 40 °C to 90 °C. Higher transmission possessed by the crystal in the visible region supports the suitability of the crystal for higher harmonic generation.
