An efficient and highly regioselective synthesis of 2-amino-3-arylindoles via the BF3-promoted reaction of 3-diazoindolin-2-imines with aryl aldehydes is described. This reaction could be carried out under mild reaction conditions with a broad scope of substrates. Moreover, the operation is of practical usage and could be scaled up.
